A letter to Wendy Swift – CEO Blackpool Victoria Hospital

Dear Ms Swift

I have tried ringing to make appointments and find out what is going on but I have had no joy . I have phoned the secretary and left messages. I have asked on Twitter.

I was at Blackpool hospital today with my daughter who had dislocated her shoulder. Thought as I’d had no joy over the phone ,I would call into Maxillofacial and speak to the department myself.

You see I get facial spasms. Really painful spasms . I can’t open my mouth very far either. Those facial spasms I’m finding are having an impact on my vocal cord dysfunction too. This is when my vocal cords spasms and I can’t breathe.

Can you imagine how painful it is but more so how frightening that you can’t breathe?

Professor Crean in my opinion is one of the best consultants out there. He treated me. He adapted treatment to fit me. He listened to me . The injections worked.

I had the injections at least every four months . You can feel it wearing off.

My last injections were JANUARY!!!!

So I asked the department about Professor Crean and was shocked to discover he was gone! Why?

What is even more disturbing is that you are letting all of his patients suffer without our regular treatment! Why?

I for one will be very sad that Professor Crean won’t be my consultant anymore as he actually cared about the fact I was in pain and would endeavour to do his best to stop it.

So i ask again Ms Swift WHY AM I BEING LEFT IN PAIN BECAUSE YOU DECIDE THAT YOU NO LONGER REQUIRE THE SERVICES OF PROFESSOR CREAN BUT HAVE NO ONE TO TAKE OVER ?

We are people and you really don’t care how your management decisions affect the treatment of your patients. How much longer are we going to have to suffer ? It’s no wonder that people struggle with their mental health because they are in pain waiting for treatment. Please get in touch.

Joanne Quinnell

Ps professor Crean you are the best!

It’s now the 5th of September and I’ve still not had an appointment through for maxillofacial or any treatment.
